The Granary District

Creating walkable, urban, human-centered neighborhoods in the Granary District.

We went on a field trip for this klatch. Uinta is running Granary Row's biergarten so we figured we'd get well acquainted with what we're dealing with :)

Those who were able to attend were:

Devin Despain
Shawn Peterson
Chase Petrey
Jess Petrey

We caught up on where are with Granary Row permitting and programming.

We're still working with the City and have gone back and forth on permitting and are optimistic Granary Row will be permitted soon.

Community gardens will be operated by Green Urban Lunchbox and will have space for neighborhood garden plots, so reply below if interested in a free garden plot.

Good things happening, and June is just around the corner!

Cool, I'm interested in a free plot :)

I think one of the important details is in the "not moving into a house alone" mentality that most people don't want to do something all alone and I think it's the same thing for a community.  One thing I learned while visiting major advertising agencies in New York is that to keep talent, you must create a unique culture.  So it's not necessarily moving into a community with other people... it's moving into a community with other people that interest you.

True, Metcalfe's law states that the value of a network is proportional to the square of the number of connected users of the system, but where the magic happens is when they are all the right kinds of users.

That being said... just seeing that Chase Petrey is involved with this project makes me about 100 times more curious.  SCHOW!

Great, John. Let's get you one. We'll be building the garden on the 15th and will need some volunteer help to get it up and running. Would you be able to help for an hour or so on the 15th?

I might be.  I'll probably be down in Utah yes.  When do I need to give you a for sure by?  I'm planning on it now, but just in case something comes up.

We'll be posting info on our Facebook page about volunteering.

As long as you're planning on it! Hopefully we'll see you on the 15th!
