The Granary District

Creating walkable, urban, human-centered neighborhoods in the Granary District.

What's better than good food and great company in a gritty, urban atmosphere that inspires and excites neighbors to see the potential of The Granary District? Adding a Beet-off contest (prizes for best beet-inspired dish) and Beet-off t shirts to the mix, of course!

Libby Haslam's beet salad, Jane Alfandre's beet velvet cake, and Rachel McKeen's beet burgers stole the show.

In between great food, mingling with neighbors, and dreaming of The Granary's potential, we heard short business highlights from Sabina Zunguze, A Gift to Africa, located in Artspace Commons; Matt Swindel and Chris Talvy with the residential architecture firm, Imbue Design; and a representative from Illustrated Like Tattoo who brought five 20% off coupons (if anyone needs ink, message me for a coupon).

To resurrect The District correctly, we have to underpin it economically by adding value to what's existing here. It's great to know there are successful, thriving local businesses in the neighborhood that attract and set apart The Granary from other places.

Thanks to Rachel McKeen and her neighbors, we had a wonderful neighborhood Beet-off and BBQ in at Kevin Blalock's great warehouse property in The Granary District!
