WHEN: APRIL 26 – MAY 2
Detailed schedule to be announced.
WHERE: GRANARY DISTRICT
Venue to be announced.
A year ago, the Granary District had its coming out party — organized by dozens of area residents and businesses, organized by The Kentlands Initiative, and attended by more than 1,000 people. Today, we’re excited to announce the next obvious step in the District’s renewal: a community charrette.
Charrettes are are intensive, collaborative workshops. This charrette, hosted by The Kentlands Initiative, will bring area residents, businesses, government officials, planners, engineers, advocates, and investors together. The goal? To sketch out a broad vision for the District that honors the best wishes of the people who live, work, and play in the District — and to identify and prioritize a handful of development projects worthy of immediate action. In short: to crowd-source a business plan for the neighborhoods that comprise the District.
So who’s invited?
AREA RESIDENTS & BUSINESSES
First and foremost, we want people who currently live or do business in the District to attend — and to contribute! We want to know what YOU want the future of this amazing area to be. There will be hands-on sessions for brainstorming and, towards the end of the charrette, opportunities to help prioritize development projects.
Are you considering living in the District … or opening a business here? We want to know what it is that makes the Granary District so attractive. Help us set development priorities. Even better, meet and collaborate with the folks who hoping to build in the district. Shake hands and make plans!
Be here to represent the un-represented — and not just the people who can’t make the charrette, but the ideas that might go unheard. Community councils, business groups, local non-profits … if you have an interest in the Granary District, we have an interest in your ideas.
LOCAL EXPERTS & ADVOCATES FOR THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT
Engineers, biking enthusiasts, architects, planners — you name it. We want you to leverage your expertise. Of course, this isn’t just academic. It’s a real place affecting real people. And because you’re local, they’re people you know!
Maybe you have existing interests in the District — or you’re looking to broaden your investment portfolio. Either way, this charrette aims to connect you with developers and prospective tenants in a collaborative, creative, and problem-solving environment.
GOVERNMENTS & INTRA-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS
You know who you are, and we want you here! From the State to the City, from the RDA to Envision Utah — there are a lot of folks who have interests in the District. Be here to hear, first hand, what’s being said and how things are unfolding!
